Dr. M Beena IAS does not need an introduction amongst the quizzing community as she has carved out a unique space for herself within the niche of quiz enthusiasts and the public in general. When she received the first ever Ambassador of Knowledge Award presented by the International Quizzing Association (IQA) Asia chapter, it was a feather in her crown of wisdom. It is with immense pleasure, we present to you the quiz master of Circadian Rhythm 1.0, the South Indian Inter Collegiate Medical Quiz Championship organized by Sree Uthradom Thirunal (SUT) Academy of Medical Sciences, Vattappara, Thiruvananthapuram in association with Q Factory.
Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Cochin Port Trust, Kerala she is a multifaceted person who has skillfully contributed to the welfare of our society through her novel initiatives. She’s an amalgamation of two terrific titles. In an interview given to a reputed news channel, she says: ” Being a doctor and an IAS officer, both are curative in nature. However, the former treats only the symptoms whereas the latter, the actual disease or cause”. She has served in various capacities including titles like an Assistant Collector, Sub Collector, Director of various Departments and has been closely associated with various sectors like infrastructure development, transportation, industrial development, airport cargo handling, financial services etc. She as the Director of Employment and Training improved the quality and enhanced the working of the government-run Industrial Training Institutes. It was under her leadership, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation recorded its highest profit in history.
Even as a child Dr. M Beena IAS was a passionate quizzer. The “Arogya Tarakam” quiz was her brainchild which fetched her the prestigious ‘Ambassador of Knowledge Award’ as the quiz played a major role in sensitising the masses to various health issues and lifestyle disorders. The health quiz saw the participation of thousands of school students and it ran for three consecutive years, making it the biggest Health Quiz in the country before culmination. She has also employed the power of quizzing and explored its various possibilities at institutions like KSIDC and Cochin Port Trust. During her KSIDC years, she conceptualized a quizzing event for the management and professional students in a mission to promote entrepreneurship in the state. She has previously been associated with Q Factory as the first quiz master of the 30 days curtain raiser series organised by MPEDA for the Jubilee Marine Quest 2022, national level quiz project. As a person who has unlocked the true potential of quizzing, she is in many ways a quiz master who serves the right purpose to our quizzing fraternity and indeed an obvious choice to lead the Circadian Rhythm 1.0.
